Kanyakumari to Leh

Live with Spark Ride…!

Hi Friends, I am Gaurav Warman (37) a Indian citizen, Motivational Speaker, Social Activist & Cyclist from Mumbai. I am cycling ride of 4000 kms from Kanyakumari to Vaishno Devi Temple at Jammu & Kashmir for a social cause i.e.” Fight Against Depression” from 15th August 2019 onward. As per World Health Organization, India is the most depressed country in the world. My goal is to positively impact thousands of lives across India who are suffering from depression. This social ride aims to make a difference in the lives of people. “Hum chahte hain, log ke jeevan se hatasha khatam ho, aur hamesha utsah bana rahe”.

The Background

It took me 3 years of wait, several unsuccessful attempts, one horrible road accident and 11 months of recovery to come back stronger for this ride. I sincerely thank Dr. Rashid, Dr. Reema & Dr. Ekta from Rashid Center (Physical Therapy Clinic), Bahrain for my treatment & recovery. As the proverb goes, its better late than never. I am coming to fulfill my promise. A promise to ride Kanyakumari to Vaishno Devi Temple, Jammu & Kashmir for a social cause. It’s your overwhelming love & support in the previous social campaigns in 2015 and 2016 that kept my dream & promise alive. I request you all to keep showering your love and support for this initiative wholeheartedly.

Why Depression as a Social Cause?

We all have experienced Depression in our life. Lucky are those people who successfully came out of it. However, there are lot of people still suffering from Depression and want to come out of it. They need help before it’s too late. I am not ashamed to share that I too experienced high level of Depression at some point in my life. So, i know the pain and consequences of Depression. Let’s go by news, there are many students in India who have committed suicides because they failed or scored low marks in exams. We need to strongly convey to our kids that’s it OK, even if they scored less marks, life doesn’t end here. On the other hand, there are successful celebrities like – Deepika Padukone, Shahrukh Khan, Anushka Sharma who have publicly admitted about their depression experience. Depression doesn’t discriminate between kid or adult, rich or poor, it just creeps in our lives due to setbacks. We must not ignore it, be more aware about it, take steps towards it and consult a doctor if needed.
